21 And he did rejoice over them, and he did teach them many things. And he did also declare unto them that they were a people who were under him, and that they were a free people, that they were free from the oppressions of the king, his father; for that his father had granted unto him that he might reign over the people who were in the land of Ishmael, and in all the land round about.
What a blessing! To have a righteous king! But the risk of having king who is wicked is too great, so it’s better to not have them. It’s a roll of the dice. You might get heaven or you might get hell. Thank goodness that when Christ comes he will reign as our King!
These blessed people must have celebrated the day that the king made this announcement as if it was their Independence Day, their Fourth of July. I am dismayed that we call Independence Day the Fourth of July. We don’t call Christmas December 25. Or Valentines Day February 14. Why devalue Independence Day by taking out the meaning of it? No doubt a result of the enemies of freedom....
Anyway, these people were blessed to no longer be under the rule of Father Lamoni, but under his benevolent son. The Good King Lamoni. The Good Lamanite King! Good for you Lamoni! You have blessed probably countless people with your example. And thanks be to Ammon who risked his life to bring Lamoni to God. And thanks be to God who orchestrated these entire wonderful events!
