Alma 22: 22

The importance of inspiration and faith

22 Now when Aaron saw the determination of the queen, he, also knowing the hardness of the hearts of the people, feared lest that a multitude should assemble themselves together, and there should be a great contention and a disturbance among them; therefore he put forth his hand and raised the king from the earth, and said unto him: Stand. And he stood upon his feet, receiving his strength.

Aaron saw what was happening, and although he seemed to feel safe, knowing those present weren’t going to kill him, he knew that this situation could grow much worse due to the Queen’s determination and the hardened hearts of the people.

By this time, Aaron and his missionary companions were quite familiar with the hardened hearts of the people, after suffering much abuse. He must have felt impressed to reach out and help the king to his feet, his strength returning no doubt as a tender mercy of God. For if he had not stood up and showed the people that he was well, things would have gotten ugly real fast. The Lord stepped in to hedge up the way of Satan and those whose hearts he had helped to harden.

As always, the Lord saved the day— but only because he had someone who was able to follow the Spirit as an instrument in his hands. Aaron was filled with the Spirit, and was guided in all he said and did. And so must we learn to do the same, if we want to be safe and if we want to be an instrument in his hands in blessing others.
