Alma 23: 18

18 And they began to be a very industrious people; yea, and they were friendly with the Nephites; therefore, they did open a correspondence with them, and the curse of God did no more follow

They became industrious! What a marvelous description! For surely their industriousness was not just temporal, but spiritual as well. Much like the pioneers who adopted the beehive as their symbol. And pioneers these Lamanites certainly were! For they suffered many of the same trials that the pioneers did for being true to the faith of Jesus Christ.

And, the most beautiful part of all— the curse was removed! Specifically what curse, I do not choose to expound upon at this time, but we know the Lamanites were cursed and it was removed. And the curse had come from God as a result of the perpetual sins of the fathers. If the curse lasts to the third and fourth generation only, as scripture seems to indicate— which i don’t know is true in this case— but even if it was to end at the third and fourth generation, successive generations promulgated it.

But not for the people of Ant-Nephi-Lehi! They broke the chain. They broke the mold. They freed themselves from the bondage of false tradition! And my, what power false traditions have on the hearts of men.
