Alma 23: 5

Writer's picture: Brother UreBrother Ure

5 And thousands were brought to the knowledge of the Lord, yea, thousands were brought to believe in the traditions of the Nephites; and they were taught the records and prophecies which were handed down even to the present time.

Thousands were converted. How many thousands? Tens? Hundreds? We don’t know. But since one soul is precious in God’s eyes, their was much reason to rejoice.

Curiously, Aaron refers to the newly converted Lamanites believing not just in the Gospel of Christ, but in the “traditions of the Nephites”. Why? I do not know. Except that thei Nephite's traditions were correct. Perhaps thee Lamanite traditions had to do with Nephi being a righteous man and a prophet instead of a “thief and a robber” who had stolen the birthright from Laman and Lemuel, and which was obviously a false tradition that had been passed down for many centuries.
