Alma 26: 26

Writer's picture: Brother UreBrother Ure

26 But behold, my beloved brethren, we came into the wilderness not with the intent to destroy our brethren, but with the intent that perhaps we might save some few of their souls. After reiterating how the members of the church not only laughed them to scorn, but expressed their intention to kill the Lamanites and wipe them off the face of the earth, Ammon and his brothers went to the Lamanites not to destroy them, but that they might bring even just a few of them unto Christ. They would have considered themselves blessed and would have been happy if they brought just a few souls unto Christ. Would they truly have been happy with just a few? Well, the Lord himself has answered that question—

  • 15 And if it so be that you should labor all your days in crying repentance unto this people, and bring, save it be one soul unto me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father!*

Yes. They would have been happy with only a few. When they were set apart and told they would have success, I am confident, based on what Ammon has said, that he never imagined that the success they would have experienced would have been so great!  Oh, to being that kind of joy and peace— the Unspeakable and incomprehensible joy and peace the Gospel brings— to thousands and thousands of people!
