31 Now behold, we can look forth and see the fruits of our labors; and are they few? I say unto you, Nay, they are many; yea, and we can witness of their sincerity, because of their love towards their brethren and also towards us.
Not only was the harvest bountiful, but firm and steadfast in the faith. These brothers hearts were all good soil. Their roots grew deep very quickly, perhaps because they had formerly been burned by the sun and pecked at by the birds for their entire lives. When they found the fruits of the Gospel— which are love, joy and peace— they, being so starved for so long that they knew not what it was to be filled, dug as deep as they could as fast as they could to hold onto the sweet nourishment they had never had before and they could not be uprooted. Even if it meant giving their lives to their enemies... in likeness of the Savior who gave his life for all men, including those who hated him and including those responsible for his crucifixion.
These were not just firm in the faith, they were cemented in with rebar!
