Alma 27: 5

Writer's picture: Brother UreBrother Ure

5 Let us gather together this people of the Lord, and let us go down to the land of Zarahemla to our brethren the Nephites, and flee out of the hands of our enemies, that we be not destroyed.

6 But the king said unto them: Behold, the Nephites will destroy us, because of the many murders and sins we have committed against them.

How sad! My heart breaks because of what the Lamanite king Lamani said. Ammon was like “C’mon! Let’s get you guys out of here and go the Zarahemla before more people die!” But the king was afraid the Nephites would kill them

because of their many murders among them.

Apparently, based upon the reaction of the people who laughed Aaron and his brethren to scorn and wanted to kill the Lamanites instead preaching to them, his fear was certainly justified. Justified as well also was the desires of those Nephites who were just trying to defend themselves and their wives and children and religion from the murderous Lamanites.
