4 And it came to pass that Aaron came to the city of Jerusalem, and first began to preach to the Amalekites. And he began to preach to them in their synagogues, for they had built synagogues after the order of the Nehors; for many of the Amalekites and the Amulonites were after the order of the Nehors.
Oh my gosh. Not the Nehors!
They were the worst. The were the most dangerous of all people, and the most deceived, because they were under the false impression they were doing the work of God when they were serving Satan himself.
Just as in Joseph Smith’s day, and I suppose also the Savior’s day, the greatest opposition to the truth came from those who were convinced their God was the true God, that they were right, and that they had license to force their beliefs on others by the sword. Or oppress anyone else who challenged their beliefs, their power or authority. That they were doing God’s work by killing the servants of the true and living God. These Satan has the greatest hold on!
Such was the case with the Amalekites. They were steeped in wickedness, but believed they were chosen and the elect of God.
