29 And we have entered into their houses and taught them, and we have taught them in their streets; yea, and we have taught them upon their hills; and we have also entered into their temples and their synagogues and taught them; and we have been cast out, and mocked, and spit upon, and smote upon our cheeks; and we have been stoned, and taken and bound with strong cords, and cast into prison; and through the power and wisdom of God we have been delivered again.
And here we have details of how much they did suffer, which was great and beyond our comprehension. No missionary in our day has suffered so. And for that I am grateful. But at the same time no missionary in our day (speaking of the recent past and not the missionaries in the beginning of the restoration) has had thousands of converts.
The Lord did provide for all of their needs, and even delivered them from prison more than once because they exercised faith and patience, because they were on the Lord’s errand and not their own.
